Seedstars is a global investment holding with headquarters in Switzerland, 15 offices and a presence in 80+ emerging and frontier markets. 

We are on a mission to impact people’s lives in emerging markets through technology and entrepreneurship. The group is organised around two key activities: 

(1) Working in partnership with governments, development agencies, corporate partners, and private donors to develop emerging market entrepreneurship ecosystems, create jobs and fuel economic growth

(2) Investing in high growth technology companies in impactful sectors in emerging and frontier markets and support them with capital, knowledge and introductions

About the Programs Team 

The Programs team’s key activity is to provide enterprise support through the execution of structured programs to give entrepreneurs the knowledge, network, and services to scale. They operate as a critical revenue generator for Seedstars by developing tailored solutions to address unique challenges faced by startups and entrepreneurs around the globe. 

The Program squad is the fastest growing business unit in Seedstars and is composed of a Head of Global Programs, a Regional Partnership Manager, a Global Startup Growth Lead, eight full time Program Managers, three Program Management Contractors and four local Entrepreneurs in Residence and Innovation Experts. The team works in close collaboration with many business units throughout the group, including Partnerships, and Finance. They are always on the lookout for talented individuals from a diverse set of backgrounds to join as Entrepreneurs in Residence or Program Managers or Program Directors. 

  1. Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) 


Entrepreneurs in Residence develop the curriculum for and deliver entrepreneurial capacity building programs. They localize existing content, source and manage our network of mentors and experts, work to develop the innovation ecosystems in their regions and track success through monitoring and evaluation efforts. Entrepreneurs in Residence may work remotely, and/or onsite from anywhere from three months to three years depending on the specifics of a program. 

What we look for

Entrepreneurs in Residence have a passion for technology startups, particularly in emerging markets, and the field of innovation-driven entrepreneurship. They are often active members in their startup communities and ecosystems and have hands-on experience in entrepreneurial educational programs and mentoring or advising.

They have entrepreneurial or intrapreneurial experience building and scaling tech ventures or business units and growing them to stable monthly revenues. They are extremely familiar with startup methodologies (testing, experimentation design, fundraising etc), have up to date knowledge of the latest tools (analytics, SEM/CEO/email/social marketing etc.), and possess a deep understanding of product market fit and what is required for a startup to achieve it.

  1. Program Manager or Program Director


Program Manager’s and directors ensure startups gain value out of the programs we implement, work to achieve partner satisfaction, and that we have the right teams to deliver quality programs. Program Managers may work remotely, and/or onsite anywhere from three months to three years depending on the specifics of a program. 

What we look for

Program Managers like EIRs have a passion for technology startups, particularly in emerging markets, and the field of innovation-driven entrepreneurship.They are extremely knowledgeable about common startup methodologies (lean startup, business model canvas, etc) and can apply them to achieve results in real business cases. They have experience running a broad scope of incubation or acceleration programs (possibly multiple, complex programs simultaneously), or leading in a fast-paced operational position. 

They are detail oriented, decisive, strong (verbal and written) communicators and world class  coordinators. They have a knack for managing relationships, fine tuned project management capacities, and can handle high levels of pressure well. 

About the two positions

Both positions require someone that is strongly motivated by the role, mission, and organization. Entrepreneurs in Residence and Program managers and directors are empathetic team players that are accountable, take ownership, and can turn complexity and ambiguity into a context for success with minimal input or top-down direction provided. Both require someone that knows how to regularly innovate and move quickly.
